JOB PURPOSE:

The Marketing Officer will work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the college including all five academic schools and the department of Skills, Business and Inclusion. In particular, the post holder will have lead responsibility for:

  • The post holder will be responsible for managing and building sustained relationships with Post Primary schools locally and with key stakeholders across the college including all five academic schools and the department of Business and Skills to secure pipelines for high quality student recruitment.

  • Leading the development of a strategic engagement plan and deliver/attend FE/HE Fairs, deliver talks and presentations in Post Primary schools and to be involved in a wide range of outreach events to reach the widest possible range of potential student audiences.

  • Delivery of an integrated marketing plan, manage marketing campaigns, events and activities and create marketing content and collateral to support student recruitment and engage with employers to raise the awareness of the full suite of opportunities at Belfast Met.

  • This role is key in in promoting Belfast Met and its vision, purpose and values through the delivery of a range of marketing activities.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESSchool and Employer Marketing
  • Support the development and delivery of an effective integrated Marketing Strategy and Plan and raise awareness of the full suite of opportunities at Belfast Metropolitan College.

  • Manage the relationships with Post Primary Schools in order to enhance recruitment of students onto courses available within the College

  • Actively engage with employers to promote wide range of opportunities to encourage recruitment of employers to specific programmes, placements and apprenticeships.

  • Leading the planning and delivery of a range of marketing campaigns, events and activities including publications and promotional materials required to support achievement of employer objectives and enhance the levels of student recruitment with the five schools across the college.

  • Create, implement and maintain high-quality content for various digital and non-digital channels and diverse audiences, producing rich content that includes engaging copy, images, audio, and video.

  • Have lead responsibility for developing key messages and promotional resources to ensure School/Department messages are positive and engaging communication in line with brand guidelines.

  • Work in collaboration with colleagues in Marketing and Design, Communications, Admissions and Curriculum to ensure consistency of course/school information across all platforms, ensuring compliance with Admissions Policy and Competitions Market Authority.

  • Work alongside the Admissions, MIS and curriculum staff in relation to online course descriptors and key support for recruitment campaigns, enrolment and application processes.

  • Lead the management of CRM records for all activity/communications with post primary schools and employers carried out

  • Provide expert advice to the team on prioritisation and management of resources ensuring objectives are met and projects are delivered to a high standard of quality, on time and within budget allocated.

  • Work with internal teams and external agencies ensuring quality of output, service and value-for-money.

  • Support innovation in our approach to marketing activities, developing more creative, insight-based ideas designed to reach and make an impact with our many stakeholder groups.

  • To build relationships and work effectively across the various teams in the Schools and Department of Business and Skills and with colleagues across the college.

School Liaison Marketing
  • Lead the development of a strategic engagement plan for Post Primary schools to support student recruitment across all areas of the college.

  • Have responsibility for the management, co-ordination and delivery of external Post Primary schools talks and attendance at external career events and conventions, in collaboration with the Careers team.

  • Attend and deliver school talks and careers conventions throughout the year across Northern Ireland, UK and ROI as required, presenting to schools the HE and FE talks and engaging a recruitment pipeline for the college.

  • Have responsibility for developing all presentation materials, videos, content, handouts required for school engagement, working closely with the Design team to produce.

  • Have responsibility for a range of kit and equipment including laptops, tablets, merchandise and collateral as required to attend events and deliver talks.

  • Work closely with the Corporate Development and Careers teams in research aligned to school talks including post activity evaluations, application insights and trends.

  • Work closely with the Careers team on direct marketing campaigns.

  • Measure and evaluate success of school liaison activities and benchmark against other organisations.

  • Develop strong relationships with key contacts across Post Primary schools identified as critical to student recruitment.

  • Lead on all data driven reports to provide evidence-based advice to guide strategic Post Primary school engagement.

Production of College Publications and Prospectuses
  • Responsible for the overall, production and distribution of all key College publications and documents e.g. prospectus, brochures, Ezines etc.

  • Working with the College Design team on the production of all publications and prospectuses ensuring alignment with corporate branding and style guidelines

  • Maximising the impact of the College brand ensuring that all internal and external materials adhere to the College’s brand guidelines

  • Maintain and update schedules to demonstrate progress against KPIs and set objectives for publications and prospectuses in line with College Publication schedule.

  • Responsible for writing, sourcing, and coordinating copy for prospectus suite

  • Responsible for proofing to ensure accuracy, consistency and tone of messages carried within publications.

Digital Marketing
  • To provide updates regarding key student recruitment and employer marketing activities and priorities to the Digital Marketing Officer to advise future strategic direction

  • Update the College Intranet with event information when necessary.

  • Develop content and support production of online and social media advertising.

Data and Metrics Reporting Support
  • To provide high level support and a co-ordination role in relation to the collation and production of Marketing and Design performance and activity reports against KPIs.

  • Use online analytics including Google Analytics, social media metrics, CRM and other tools to build accurate and evidence-based insights into user behaviour to inform decision-making at a strategic level, enhance performance and optimise essential stakeholder journeys.

  • Work closely with Marketing and Design and Corporate Development colleagues on the production of a range of Centre reports and activity trackers to include but not limited to:

    • Marketing activity reports for – School Engagement, Events, PR, Digital and Campaigns etc

    • Admissions and Enrolment reports to assess impact of student recruitment marketing campaigns

    • College wide reports e.g., Awards etc.

    • Analytics reports tracking performance and ROI

    • Development of future reporting templates.

Procurement and Finance
  • To support the Marketing and Design team in relation to the annual operating budget and monitoring aspects of the budget as directed.

  • To ensure that all procurement processes are adhered to including quotes, purchase orders and invoices are properly completed, authorised, and passed to the Finance Department.

Team Performance
  • Develop strong working relationships within the Centre for Marketing and Design to ensure that the College marketing objectives are met.

  • Ensure that all work and output is of the highest quality following all standards as agreed with Senior Marketing Officer.

  • Remain up to date and informed of the College, its strategic directions, its products, and developments.

  • Responsible for line management of interns and placement students based in the Marketing and Design Centre.

  • Work with the Senior Marketing Officer and Marketing and Design Centre Manager on the preparation of marketing information and reports for internal audits and external inspections.

  • Provide relevant data to produce monthly and quarterly marketing performance reports.

General
  • To contribute to the achievement of the College’s mission, values, and strategic directions.

  • Participate in the Colleges performance appraisal system.

  • Participate in College developments, attend internal and external meetings and training programmes required.

  • Adhere to general standards of conduct embodied in College policies.

  • To implement and embed the College’s equality and diversity policies and respond to its equality and diversity duties as they relate to all stakeholders.

  • Act, if directed, as fire marshal or warden.

  • Carry out, if directed, the role of first aider.

  • To undertake such other relevant duties as may be reasonably expected of the post holder.

Personnel SpecificationEssential Criteria

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

Knowledge / Skills (Desirable)

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a marketing role.

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in planning and delivering successful marketing plans.

  • Experience of working on multiple projects for a range of internal and external customers.

  • Experience in Marketing within Further and/or Higher Education environment desirable.
