The post holder will contribute to the management of mechanical assets throughout their operational lifecycle, from asset identification, condition assessment and maintenance planning through day-to-day operation, maintenance, fault response, repair, modification, commissioning and, where required, decommissioning, replacement, and disposal.

The post holder will provide technical support across a range of mechanical building services, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, hot and cold-water systems, boilers, pumps, calorifiers, mechanical plant, drainage, and associated building services.

The post holder will be trained and formally appointed as a Medical Gas Authorised Person (AP) for the Medical Gas Pipeline System (MGPS), subject to the organisation's governance arrangements and competency requirements. The role will include the operational and maintenance responsibilities assigned to the AP in accordance with applicable procedures, standards and local governance.

The role requires the post holder to participate in the Facilities Department out-of-hours/on-call rota and provide an appropriate response to mechanical, MGPS and other Facilities emergencies within the post holder’s competence, training and delegated authority, and to escalate matters requiring specialist, statutory or formally authorised intervention to the appropriate person or service provider.
