The post holder will support the management of medical and clinical equipment throughout its lifecycle, including procurement, commissioning, asset management, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, replacement, decommissioning and disposal, ensuring equipment remains safe, compliant and available to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.

The post holder will act as the primary technical liaison between the Facilities Department, clinical users, contractors and equipment manufacturers, providing first-line technical support within the limits of their competence and ensuring specialist Clinical Engineering support, manufacturer intervention or statutory certification requirements are identified and escalated appropriately.

Subject to the organisation's governance arrangements and competency requirements, the post holder will be trained and formally appointed as a Medical Gas Authorised Person (AP) and undertake the operational and maintenance responsibilities associated with the Medical Gas Pipeline System (MGPS) in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and local procedures.

The role requires participation in the Facilities Department out-of-hours/on-call rota, responding to medical equipment, MGPS and other Facilities-related emergencies within the post holder's delegated authority and escalating matters requiring specialist or statutory intervention as appropriate.
