Medical Records Manager
The Role:
The Primary focus of the position is to manage and coordinate the Medical Records Service within Blackrock Health Galway Clinic. The Successful Candidate will be instrumental in the planning, development, implementation and integration of the medical records department into the Galway Clinics Quality and Patient Safety Programme. This involves working with hospital and medical staff to ensure that effective measures are developed, implemented and maintained to identify, quantify, track and trend quality of care and patient safety issues.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assumes the responsibility of the management and training of departmental personnel in the various function of the department.
- Manages the Storage, Retrieval and filing of medical records for direct patient care, research, committees (Clinical/surgical audits) and consultant suites.
- Establishes and maintains a procedure to ensure medical records are safely maintained within the institution.
- Manages the workflow around the scanning of medical records from Day Care, Angio, IR & ICU along with ensuring all Consultant Correspondence is scanned into meditech in a timely manner
- Processes all Medico, Legal and subject access requests in accordance with GDPR legislation.
- Carries out work-up for monthly Surgical and Medical Audits.
- Manages MRN duplications –Develop Reports, carry-out merge of duplications with follow on report to Qpulse for trending.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Patient Safety Executive.
The Candidate:
- Have a relevant third level qualification.
- Have relevant practical experience.
- Professional approach to work
- Proven ability to work in a confidential manner.

- Proven people management skills.
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Be able to express and address issues clearly, both orally and in writing and articulate them as necessary.
- Excellent attention to detail and computer skills required
- Experience in Meditech desirable
