Medical Scientist / Biomedical Scientist- Blood Transfusion

Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of this post is to provide a safe, efficient, quality Blood Transfusion service in conjunction with the Chief Medical Scientist, to satisfy the needs and requirements of service users and in in compliance with the requirements of international standard ISO15189.

Essential Criteria:

Candidates must, on the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the post, possess:

a) Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the Technological University of Dublin / Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street;

or

b) Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the Joint University

College Cork - Cork Institute of Technology course;

or

c) Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology,

Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994;

or

d) Possess Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of

Technology, Kevin Street or Cork Institute of Technology or the Galway/Mayo Institute of

Technology (awarded prior to 1997)

or

e) Bachelor in Science degree with Honours for Biomedical science (which is recognized as a Health & Care Professions Council, UK (HCPC) approved)

or

f) A recognised qualification at least equivalent to (A) - (E) above;

And

Be registered with CORU or be eligible for registration

Or

Be currently registered with HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist
