Multi-Disciplinary Medical Scientist

· Specified Purpose (9 Months) | Full- time | 35 hours p/w (immediate start).

· We are looking for a Medical Scientist to join our busy laboratory.

· Applications will be considered from Medical Scientists due to qualify from approved courses in 2025.

· The ideal candidate would be a dynamic Medical Scientist with an in-depth knowledge of and experience in Biochemistry and Microbiology.

· Qualifications for the post are stipulated by the Health Service Executive.

· Evidence of Registration with CORU must be supplied with the application.

The National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh (NOHC) has 37 Orthopaedic Surgeons and is Ireland’s largest dedicated Orthopaedic centre, the national referral centre for post-prosthetic joint infections, Ireland’s primary referral centre for bone and soft tissue tumours, and the dedicated surgical centre for the National Sarcoma Service. NOHC also provides orthopaedic oncology, rehabilitation, rheumatology and paediatric services, and sports and exercise medicine. Home to the National Bone Bank, the Hospital is affiliated with RCSI, UCD and DCU as a teaching establishment. Moreover, we undertake exciting research in collaboration with academic partners, peers, scientists, engineers and industry.

The Biochemistry Department at NOHC processes approximately 100,000 tests annually and is accredited to ISO 15189:2022. The Biochemistry Department also provides Pathology services to an external Private Hospital and is well equipped with technology/instrumentation; Winpath LIS, Beckman Coulter Au480, Beckman Coulter Access and Radiometer ABL Flex 90.

The Microbiology Department at NOHC processes approximately 30,000 samples per annum and is accredited to ISO 15189:2022. The Microbiology Department also provides Pathology services to an external Private Hospital, as well as, the National and Regional Bone Banks, and is licensed as a Tissue Establishment (2004/23/EC) by the Health Products Regulatory Authority. The Microbiology Department is well equipped with technology/instrumentation; Winpath LIS, Vitek 2, BacT/ALERT and GeneXpert.

· Ní mór fianaise ar Chlárú le CORU a sholáthar leis an iarratas.

Tá 37 Máinlia Ortaipéideacha ag an Ospidéal Ortaipéideach Náisiúnta (NOHC) agus is é an t-ionad ortaipéideach tiomnaithe is mó in Éirinn, an t-ionad atreoraithe náisiúnta d'ionfhabhtuithe comhpháirteacha iar-phróistéiseacha, príomhionad atreoraithe na hÉireann le haghaidh tumaí cnámh agus fíochán bog, agus an t-ionad máinliachta tiomnaithe don tSeirbhís Náisiúnta Sarcoma. Soláthraíonn NOHC oinceolaíocht ortaipéideach, athshlánú, réamateolaíocht agus seirbhísí péidiatraiceacha freisin, agus leigheas spóirt agus aclaíochta. Tá an tOspidéal ina lonnaithe don Bhanc Náisiúnta Cnámh, agus tá sé cleamhnaithe le RCSI, UCD agus DCU mar fhoras teagaisc. Ina theannta sin, déanaimid taighde spreagúil i gcomhar le comhpháirtithe acadúla, piaraí, eolaithe, innealtóirí agus tionsclaíocht.

Próiseálann an Roinn Bithcheimice ag NOHC thart ar 100,000 tástáil gach bliain agus tá sé creidiúnaithe de réir ISO 15189: 2022. Soláthraíonn an Roinn Bithcheimice seirbhísí Paiteolaíochta d'Ospidéal Príobháideach seachtrach agus tá sé feistithe go maith le teicneolaíocht/ionstraimíocht; Winpath LIS, Beckman Coulter Au480, Beckman Coulter Access agus Radiometer ABL Flex 90.

Próiseálann an Roinn Micribhitheolaíochta ag NOHC thart ar 30,000 sampla in aghaidh na bliana agus tá sé creidiúnaithe de réir ISO 15189:2022. Soláthraíonn an Roinn Micribhitheolaíochta seirbhísí Paiteolaíochta d'Ospidéal Príobháideach seachtrach, chomh maith leis na Bainc Náisiúnta agus Réigiúnacha, agus tá sí ceadúnaithe mar Bhunús Fíocháin (2004/23/CE) ag an Údarás Rialála Táirgí Sláinte. Tá an Roinn Micribhitheolaíochta feistithe go maith le teicneolaíocht/ionstraimíocht; Winpath LIS, Vitek 2, BacT / ALERT agus GeneXpert.
