There is currently one permanent whole-time Medical Scientist Senior ICPCD vacancy available the Point of Care Testing (POCT) Department, Laboratory Medicine Department, Cork University Hospital. A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Medical Scientists, Senior from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Purpose of the Post:

  • The Medical Scientist Senior, will work as part of the Multidisciplinary Point of Care Testing Team to deliver and support POCT Services in CUH and for the Integrated Care Programme for the Prevention and Management of Chronic Disease (ICPCD) programme.
  • To work with the Community Healthcare Network Manager and Physiotherapy Manager in ensuring the co-ordination, development and delivery of a quality, client centred physiotherapy service across and between networks in the geographical area.
  • To carry out clinical and educational duties as required.

The post holder will:

  • ·Report to the Chief Medical Scientist (POCT) on all matters (includes Line Management function)

Be accountable to the Clinical Leads or designate in Laboratory Medicine on Clinical matters.

Post Specific Requirments:

  • Strong Knowledge of ISO 15189 Accreditation standards and Quality Management Systems
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a small team.
