Medical Scientist

The Medical scientist will work closely with Senior Medical Scientists, Chief Medical Scientists, Laboratory Manager and Allied Health Professionals, Nursing and Clinical staff.

Purpose of the Post:

In cooperation with the Laboratory Manager, Chief Medical Scientist, Senior Medical Scientist and Clinical staff the post holder will participate in the delivery of a quality laboratory service that supports the clinical needs of St Luke’s Hospital, Aut Even and Kilcreene Hospitals patients and is consistent with Laboratory Quality Statement mission, vision, values and strategic plan of the organisation.

Post Specific Requirements:

• Demonstrate depth and breadth of multi-disciplinary experience in the areas of Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry and Haematology, as relevant to the role.
• Due to the nature of on call service in St Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny there is only one Medical Scientist on call and therefore the post holder will be required to work alone, a background in Blood Transfusion is highly desirable.

Other requirements specific to the post:

• Have access to appropriate transport to fulfil the requirements of the role.
• The successful candidate will be required to participate in multi-disciplinary on-call.
