The Role:

The Water Network Management team, within Asset Management and Sustainability, has accountability for the management of the water network, including leakage management planning and prioritisation and leakage data and systems management in order to target leakage reduction activities. A key capability of the Water Network Management team centres around the management of the UÉ metering asset base, including the delivery of metering activities in the field e.g. meter replacement, reading, and the management of metering data, the delivery of the metering strategy, policies and codes of practice and the alignment and development of the commercial models required to support end-to-end metering services. 

The Metering Service team will lead the management of all field related metering activities such as meter installations, commissioning and validation, meter monitoring and analysis, fault diagnosis and repair, meter exchange and validation, meter reading and customer bill query resolution.

The Metering Coordinator will report to the Metering Senior Field Engineer, and an overview of the duties are listed below:

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Investigate notified issues pertaining to the performance and efficiency of UÉ’s metering stock and ancillary devices such as investigating faulty meters or pressure reducing valves

  • Undertake meter reading, meter maintenance and ad-hoc meter replacement activities as directed by the Metering Senior Field Engineer within the Region

  • Be responsible for an area of operations and investigation and for carrying out the investigation of meter related performance issues on the network

  • Liaise closely with the Water Networks Operations staff from the Chief Operations Office, and other business units as required

  • Request or raise Work Orders for additional or follow on works by third party regional contractors as required

  •  Promote adherence to standard operating procedures by ensuring meters are commissioned and functioning correctly after replacement. Support the investigation of customer complaints relating to meter installations as escalated from within the UÉ business

  •  Assist in analysing escalated queries from LRSD or Contact Centres and contribute recommendations for resolution.

  • Liaise with Metering Policies and Commercial team on the design and implementation of meter testing programmes to establish the performance of the meter assets

  •  Encourage compliance with health and safety procedures by performing risk assessments (Safe System of Work Plan), using PPE, and fulfilling duties under Construction Regulations.

  •  Work collaboratively with third parties/contractors to support meter repair activities when required.

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders as required. For example, customers, relevant Irish Water personnel, third parties/contractors.

  • Attend meter asset management meetings organised by the Water Network Management – Metering Department

  • Ensure you are appropriately trained and equipped to undertake your proper functions

  • Support Administrative colleagues within the team (e.g. while on leave), and provide training to colleagues / 

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business

  • Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards

  • Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives

  • Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation

  • Other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable

  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and or relevant experience

  • Ability to analyse customer needs and provide support to resolve issues

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and look for different perspectives

  • Demonstrated flexibility with regard to working in a changing environment and the ability to adjust to new work structures, processes and requirements as necessary

  • Track record of striving for quality and ensuring consistently high standards of work

  • Track record of complying with safety objectives and policies and encouraging others to do the same
