What is the Role:

The Model Engineering team forms part of the Data Engineering and Architecture function within Data & Analytics in AIB.

The team implements models (IRB, IFRS9) on behalf of Risk and other Business Stakeholders within a complex technology and data infrastructure.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for the successful candidate to drive the team’s strategic thinking in a best-in-class infrastructure where data and analytical tooling are tightly integrated.

As a Model Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for leading the design of model architecture, frameworks and development processes. You will influence strategic and tactical technology design decisions related to model engineering and execution. You will also provide thought and technical leadership coupled with career development guidance to your peers, colleagues, and direct reports as appropriate through regular and ongoing engagement.

Key accountabilities:

  • Lead team of engineers with responsibility for one or more of the team’s deployment streams
  • Lead technical design of model architecture and frameworks 
  • Ensure safe execution of model batches and underlying calculations
  • Involvement in regulatory, Policy and Procedure compliance for all work within the area representing Model Engineering to stakeholders such as internal committees, audit or in regulatory interactions as required.
  • Establish best practices and standards

What you Will Bring:

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in a discipline incorporating quantitative analytical techniques, e.g.: Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Data and Analytics, Software Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in a relevant area with knowledge of the model development lifecycle with an advanced understanding of Risk (PD, LGD, EAD) and/or other model types (Customer Strategies, Propensity), their interdependencies and business roles in Risk Management and Finance
  • Understanding of IT delivery and the IT infrastructure required to complete the team’s tasks
  • Expert knowledge of data warehouse related concepts and techniques, and technologies such as Teradata and SAS
  • Strong communication skills with a proven track record of communicating key messages to Senior Management in a manner appropriate to the audience
  • Experience of working and potentially leading teams with a mix of internals and contractors
  • Project Management experience for tracking progress and for programme interactions
