About the Role:

The Mortgage Lending Unit (MLU) is an independent, Second Line of Defence function that review and challenge new money credit applications for all business areas including AIB Homes, EBS and Haven. Our aim is to deliver a professional lending service to the Homes Business Teams and ultimately our customers whilst embedding a credit culture that is resilient.

The successful candidate (s) will work with a team of highly skilled credit professionals, as a robust second line of defence function, active in day-to-day credit underwriting.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Analysing credit and risk implications of credit proposals and making well-informed lending decisions/recommendations.
  • Provide a professional lending service while applying appropriate and effective credit governance and standards.
  • Ensure timely turnaround of assessment, including demonstrating strong productivity in line with the team Service Level Agreements, processes, and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain direct relationships with key stakeholders in business areas on lending propositions to provide structured, consistent, and tailored review and challenge of proposed lending applications.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service and compliance with all lending policies and guidelines.

What you will bring:

  • Proven high level of Credit Skills with good commercial awareness, including an ability to interpret and challenge. Ability to provide robust Second Line review and challenge and maintain resilience in a dynamic and fluid Credit environment.
  • Evidence of high standards of professionalism in relation to Credit Underwriting/ Management and compliance with all legislation, regulation, policy, and standards.
  • Solution focused with strong interpersonal and negotiating skills and evidence of an ability to interact, engage and influence.
  • Ability to interpret and understand complex credit cases to be able to provide informed advice and/or approval in relation to credit decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change with commitment to streamlining current processes through use of technology and automation
