A panel may be created for Senior Speech & Language Therapist, Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise, from which current and future permanent, temporary, and specified purpose vacancies of full time or part time duration, may be filled.
Purpose of the Post
This is a Senior position within the SLT Team in Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise which provides a service to adults referred to and accepted by the Speech and Language Therapy Department MRHP presenting with difficulties eating/drinking/swallowing and/or difficulties communicating.
The Senior SLT position covers Surgical, Medical, Critical Care (ICU/Coronary Care) and the Emergency Department and Out Patients.
Eligibility Criteria
Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.
Candidates for appointment must:
(i) Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
AND
(ii) Have 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) post qualification clinical experience.
AND
(iii) Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
AND
(iv) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Speech & Language Therapist Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
Annual registration
(i) On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on theSpeech & Language Therapists Register maintained by the Speech &Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
AND
(ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
Health
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character
Post Specific Requirements
- Clinical experience working with adults, with ability to assess and manage a range of communication and feeding, eating, drinking and swallowing disorders, as it applies to the post.
- Dysphagia experience, as relevant to the role
