Dietitian, Senior (Surgery and Practice Tutor)

There is currently one permanent, whole-time (1.0WTE) senior post available in Naas General Hospital. This senior post will be 0.5 clinical in the speciality of surgery and 0.5 practice tutor. Practice tutor hours may be based intermittently in the Trinity Centre for Health Sciences, as determined by educational and/or service needs.

A panel may be formed for the Naas General Hospital from which current and future permanent, temporary or specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Purpose of the Post:

0.5 Dietitian, Senior ( Surgery)

The post holder will provide an inpatient dietetic service to speciality of General Surgery, including enteral nutrition, parenteral nutrition and home enteral feed discharge planning. They will also provide a limited outpatient dietetic service to patients at home on enteral feeding.

Additional duties may be assigned by the manager to include provision of service within the Surgical Directorate.

0.5 Dietitian, Senior ( Practice Tutor)

To maintain and develop the capacity and quality of the practice education programme in undergraduate dietetics and support students and Practice Educators, in collaboration with Trinity College and TU Dublin.

The candidate will be recognised as an adjunct staff member of Trinity College and will accordingly be offered a range of professional development opportunities through Trinity's Academic Practice division.

Eligibility Criteria

Professional Qualifications, Experience etc.

(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

Applicants must demonstrate all of the criteria listed below, as relevant to the role:

1.Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc

(a) Candidates for appointment must:

(i) Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Dietitian by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU.

And

(ii) Have 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) post qualification dietetic experience.

And

(iii) Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

And

(iv) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Dietitians Register maintained by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.

2. Annual Registration

(i) On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Dietitians Register maintained by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU.

And

(ii) Practitioners confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

3.Health

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

4.Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
