Senior Physiotherapist - Early Supported Discharge (Stroke) - SPC
Naas General Hospital.
There is currently one, specified purpose, whole-time vacancy for a Senior Physiotherapist, Early Supported Discharge (ESD) Stroke, located in Physiotherapy Department, Naas General Hospital, Naas, Co Kildare.
The successful candidate will be based in Naas General Hospital but will provide a ESD service to Stroke survivors in the catchment areas of Kildare & West Wicklow working to support the early discharge of patients who meet the criteria for ESD.
The successful candidate may be required to work in any service area within the vicinity as the need arises.
A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Senior Physiotherapist Early Supported Discharge (Stroke) from which current and future, specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Purpose of the Post:
The Physiotherapist, Senior ESD Stroke will:
· Be responsible for the establishment and provision of a high-quality Physiotherapy Service to Stroke survivors as part of an Early Supported Discharge framework and in accordance with standards of professional practice.
To work with the Physiotherapist Manager and other members of the Physiotherapy team, and in conjunction with other ESD for stroke team members, to co-ordinate and develop the service to meet the needs of the population it serves in line with the objectives of the organisation and the National Clinical Programme for Stroke.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc
(a)Candidates for appointment must:
(i) Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU. See attached link for current approved physiotherapy qualifications

AND
(ii) Have three years full time (or an aggregate of three years full time) post qualification clinical experience.
AND
(iii) Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
AND
(iv) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Physiotherapists Register
maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU before a
contract of employment can be issued.
2. Annual Registration
(i) On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU
AND
(ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
3. Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
4. Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
Note 1*: Section 91 candidates are individuals who qualified before 30 September 2016
and have been engaged in the practice of the profession in the Republic of Ireland for a minimum of 2 years fulltime (or an aggregate of 2 years fulltime), between 30th
September 2011 and 30th September 2016 are considered to be Section 91 applicants
under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005.
Post Specific Requirements:
The Physiotherapist, Senior, ESD Stroke will:
Demonstrate a high level of experience and knowledge in the management of Stroke patients in the acute hospital setting, including the management of patients who meet the criteria for ESD, supported by relevant CPD.
Demonstrate recent experience of leading and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the provision of direct clinical patient care.
