The Network Engineering Manager is responsible for the operational leadership, strategic direction and continuous evolution of the Bank's network and connectivity services. The role ensures the delivery of secure, resilient and high-performing network infrastructure that supports critical banking services, customer channels, colleague productivity, third-party connectivity, and the Bank's wider technology transformation agenda.
The successful candidate will lead a team of network professionals responsible for the design, operation, maintenance and enhancement of the Bank's enterprise network, ensuring service availability, operational excellence and regulatory compliance. This includes accountability for network operations, service management, incident response, capacity planning, lifecycle management, risk mitigation and the delivery of strategic network initiatives.
A key focus of the role is the development and execution of the Bank's network strategy, with particular emphasis on cloud connectivity, hybrid infrastructure, secure access services and modern networking technologies.
The Network Engineering Manager will work closely with Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Cloud, and Business teams to define and deliver connectivity solutions that enable business growth, digital transformation and operational resilience.
The role requires strong vendor and stakeholder management capabilities, ensuring that strategic technology partners deliver against agreed service, performance and commercial objectives.
The Network Engineering Manager will also champion continuous service improvement, technical governance, knowledge management and the development of team capability to ensure the organisation remains equipped to meet future technology demands.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction for Network Engineering and Network Operations functions.
- Develop and execute the Bank's Network Strategy and multi-year technology roadmap.
- Ensure the availability, resilience, performance and security of enterprise network services.
- Lead the design and delivery of cloud connectivity solutions supporting Azure, SaaS, and hybrid-cloud environments.
- Drive network modernisation initiatives, including SD-WAN, segmentation, automation and cloud networking.
- Oversee operational support, major incident management, problem management and root cause analysis activities.
- Manage network capacity planning, technology lifecycle management and infrastructure refresh programmes.
- Establish and maintain network standards, governance, documentation and operational procedures.
Requirements:
Essential
- Degree or equivalent experience in Telecommunications, Information Systems, or a related IT discipline.
- Cisco certification
- Significant experience in network engineering, network operations or infrastructure management within a large enterprise environment.
- Proven experience leading and developing technical teams, including performance management, coaching and capability development.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex operational environments with responsibility for service availability, resilience and performance.
- Experience leading major incidents, problem management and service restoration activities.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership, business stakeholders, technology teams and external suppliers.
This is a Permanent (hybrid) position based in the Republic of Ireland.
