St. Michael’s House provides a comprehensive range of services and supports to men, women, and children with disabilities and their families in 170 locations in the greater Dublin Area. We currently have vacancies for both Staff Nurse positions and Disability Support Worker (DSW) roles for candidates awaiting NMBI registration. These roles offer an excellent opportunity to develop professional skills and experience in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Staff Nurse (RNID) – Full-Time Positions Available

The role of the Staff Nurse (RNID) involves delivering holistic, person-centred nursing care and support to individuals with intellectual, physical, &/or sensory disabilities. The goal is to promote independence and enhance quality of life across all aspects of daily living.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-standard nursing care in line with NMBI Code of Conduct, relevant legislation and within organisational policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • To work as part of an interdisciplinary team to support individuals with their health, wellbeing, and social care.
  • To improve experience and outcomes for individuals with an intellectual disability.
  • Advocate for the rights, will and preferences of individuals, promoting dignity and inclusion.

Essential Requirements:

  • Hold a Registered Nurse Intellectual Disability (RNID) qualification and be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Final-year (4th year) RNID student nurses are also eligible to apply while awaiting NMBI registration.
  • Experience in supporting people with intellectual disabilities, case management, and positive behaviour support.
  • Knowledge of HIQA regulations, Interim Standards for New Directions and Children’s First.
  • Strong commitment to person-centred human rights-based support and team-based working.

Disability Support Worker (DSW) – Temporary Positions Available

These roles are available for candidates who are currently completing their RNID qualification and awaiting NMBI registration. As a DSW, you will work under the guidance of qualified nursing staff to provide meaningful, person-centred support to individuals.

Ideal Candidates will:

  • Be commitment to upholding the rights of and improving the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Be motivated to gain practical, hands-on experience in a caring and professional environment.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work as part of a supportive interdisciplinary team in residential, children, or respite services.

Salary:

  • Staff Nurse positions are paid in line with the HSE consolidated Staff Nurse salary scale, which is a nationally agreed pay structure for nurses working in the Irish public health service.
  • Disability Support Worker (DSW) salaries will be in line with HSE Care Assistant consolidates pay scale, are competitive and commensurate with experience.
