Description
The National Screening Service (NSS) delivers four national population-based screening programmes – for cervical, breast and bowel screening and for detecting sight-threatening retinopathy in people with diabetes.
Our programmes focus on looking for early signs of disease in healthy people, so that we can:
- detect health issues early
- help prevent disease
- ensure that anyone who does develop the disease being screened for has the best chance of early, more effective treatment
- reduce people’s risk of developing a disease or its complications • support people in making informed decisions about their health

The Opportunity
To assist and support the delivery of client care under the supervision and direction of Radiography Service Manager or designate.
The Radiography Assistant post at BreastCheck is broad based and includes assisting in Assessment Clinics and providing support to the Clinical Team to clients who have or fear they may have breast cancer.
There are currently two permanent and wholetime vacancies available in BreastCheck Merrion Screening Unit, Merrion Road, Dublin 4
There is currently one permanent and wholetime vacancy available in BreastCheck Eccles Screening Unit, 36 Eccles Street, Dublin 1
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- The primary role of the Radiography Assistant is to assist, Radiographers & Radiologists with the general day to day management of client care and associated duties in BreastCheck.
- To deliver a quality, safe, efficient and caring radiology and imaging service to clients under the supervision of the Radiography Service Manager or designate.
- To assist radiographers, radiologists and the multi-disciplinary team with all duties pertaining to breast cancer screening, assessment and administration.
- The Radiography Assistant is broad based and includes assisting in Assessment Clinics and providing support to the clinical team to clients who have or fear they may have breast cancer.
