The National Screening Service (NSS) delivers four national population-based screening programmes – for cervical, breast and bowel screening and for detecting sight-threatening retinopathy in people with diabetes.

About the role:
The Unit Scheduler is responsible for co-ordinating the Unit’s screening workload and ensuring the maximum usage of all available screening slots in the Unit’s static and mobile screening locations by effective scheduling of client appointments, in line with client availability, client charter commitments and the resource availability within the unit.
The Unit Scheduler will support the Unit Manager in monitoring screening locations to maintain optimum service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- To prepare screening profiles for all screening locations and identify category of clients to be invited.
- Ascertain the number of women available for screening and ensure that all clients are scheduled to achieve best use of resources, service user needs and service requirements.
- Use appropriate reporting tools as required to ensure that screening appointments are allocated and appointed in line with the commitments outlined within the BreastCheck Women’s Charter.
- Co-ordinate the scheduling process for all categories of clients.
- Monitoring all screening locations daily to ensure maximum usage of all screening slots.
- Assist with the monitoring of the unit email mailbox and answering all email correspondence where appropriate.
- Provide phone support to the service users of BreastCheck in a timely and efficient manner and provide administration support to the wider administration team as required.
- Maintain accurate information on the database and provide key statistics and support to the Unit Manager.
- Liaise with the Radiographic Services Manager and the Unit Manager in relation to radiographer resources and liaise regarding numbers in advance of mobile unit moves allowing adequate time to the team in the planning of such moves.
- Provide support to Unit administrative and radiographic staff with any scheduling related issues.
