Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this post is to develop, plan, coordinate and evaluate education programmes provided by the Centre of Children’s Nurse Education (Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, The National Children’s Hospital Tallaght, and Temple Street Children’s University Hospital). The Nurse Tutor will liaise with their other colleagues across the three sites, in order to provide education and training to all Children’s nurses within the remit of the centre, and to provide Children’s nursing related specialist programmes as required nationally.

Essential Criteria:

· RCN/RN Child branch with 5 years Post Graduate experience or RGN with 5 years acute paediatric experience

· Master’s Degree in Education or a subject relevant to the post, or a guarantee to pursue same within a 2 year period

· Experience of teaching and programme development

· Excellent organisational and management skills

· Knowledge of developments in children’s nursing services, education and quality principles

· Thorough knowledge of current professional children’s nursing matters and NMBI standards and guidelines.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

· Works efficiently as part of a team within CHI and the ONMSD family.

· Self-motivated.

· Efficient leadership skills.
