Position description

The Occupational Health department is an integral part of our Health and Wellbeing Service which forms part of a centralised Health, Safety and Environment Function. The primary objective of the ESB Health and Wellbeing service is to support our staff in their own effective management of their health and wellbeing to enable them in being productive, motivated, and engaged in both their working and personal lives. 

ESB operates a dedicated Occupational Health Department for the company which supports the organisation in the provision of advice and support both to management and to staff through proactive and remedial health support. Services include Absence Management Support, Pre-employment Screening, Health Assessments and Health surveillance programmes as well as a range of other general health promotion activities.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate and manage appointment schedules for the Occupational Health (OH) Team as part of the Absence Management Programme 

  • Arrange preemployment medical screening appointments across multiple recruitment campaigns 

  • Support the delivery of Health Surveillance programmes, including audiometry, lead monitoring, Hepatitis B vaccinations, and other statutory or organisational initiatives 

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and rollout of vaccination clinics and wider Health Promotion activities 

  • Contribute to departmental projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and service development 

  • Act as an ambassador for the service by promoting Occupational Health and educating managers and employees about available supports 

  • Ensure all activities are carried out in line with GDPR requirements and maintain strict medical confidentiality at all times 

Experience and Qualifications 

Essential 

  • A relevant thirdlevel qualification or equivalent professional experience in an administrative or support role 

  • Strong working knowledge of IT systems, with the ability to use a range of software and digital tools confidently 

  • Excellent communication skills with a strong customerservice orientation 

  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail 

  • A flexible, adaptable approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a team 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in IT, including email, scheduling tools, and MS Office applications 

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment 

Location

This position will be based in ESB, The Mews, 40 Stephens Place, Dublin 2. 

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

Reporting To 

This role will report to Occupational Health Manager.

Salary 

€33,500 - €40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
