Occupational Therapist, Senior, University Hospital

Cork University Hospital (CUH) is the largest university teaching hospital in Ireland and is the only level 1 trauma centre in the Republic of Ireland – an accreditation given because of the very wide range of specialties delivered by the hospital – It services a wide range of specialties including Neuroscience, Cardiac Service, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Renal, Internal Medicine, Vascular, Ophthalmology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Maxillary-Facial, Paediatrics, Intensive Care, Oncology, Haematology, Burns.

CUH is the tertiary referral centre for the HSE Southern area, and the supra regional area of Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny. CUH therefore acts as a regional centre for secondary and tertiary care for the catchments population of 550,000 served by the HSE Southern area and a supra-regional centre for a total a population of 1.1 million.

CUH is part of the South/South West Hospital Group. The other hospitals within this group are University Hospital Waterford; University Hospital Kerry; Mercy University Hospital; South Tipperary General Hospital; South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital; Bantry General Hospital; Mallow General Hospital and the Lourdes Orthopaedic Hospital Kilcreene.

Purpose Of the Post:

To work in conjunction with other team members in co-ordinating and developing the service to meet the needs of the service user group and the objectives of the organisation. The Senior Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision of a high quality Occupational Therapy service and will carry out clinical and educational duties as required.

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of Occupational Therapy services to children 0-16 years, both inpatients and outpatients.

Caseload includes –

- Neurology and Neurosurgery

- General Medical conditions

- Rheumatology

- Burns and Plastics
