Cork University Hospital (CUH) is the largest university teaching hospital in Ireland and is the only level 1 trauma centre in the Republic of Ireland – an accreditation given because of the very wide range of specialties delivered by the hospital – It services a wide range of specialties including Neuroscience, Cardiac Service, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Renal, Internal Medicine, Vascular, Ophthalmology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Maxillary-Facial, Paediatrics, Intensive Care, Oncology, Haematology, Burns.

CUH is the tertiary referral centre for the HSE Southern area, and the supra regional area of Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny. CUH therefore acts as a regional centre for secondary and tertiary care for the catchments population of 550,000 served by the HSE Southern area and a supra-regional centre for a total a population of 1.1 million.
CUH is part of the HSE South West Region. The other acute hospitals within this group are University Hospital Kerry; Mercy University Hospital; South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital; Bantry General Hospital; Mallow General Hospital
Purpose of Post:
The Occupational Therapy Assistant’s role will be to work under the direction and guidance of the Manager or supervising occupational therapist to support the provision of high quality patient-centred therapy services and to manage administrative duties, maintain hygiene and health and safety policies as appropriate.
