Operations & Maintenance Technician
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities of the Operations & Maintenance Technician are outlined as follows:
· Take ownership and responsibility for allocated water and wastewater treatment plant facilities ensuring standards of quality and cleanliness are upheld.
· Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and other periodic operation and maintenance checks to ensure the quality and quantity of any treated water produced or final effluent treated is within specification.
· Complete grounds maintenance activities including grass cutting, cleaning and facilities maintenance.
· Predominately, normal day-to-day duties involve working alone, therefore all O&M Technicians are required to carry a lone working device and use it as per the specific operating procedure.
· O&M Technicians must visit each site on a regular basis. A site visit report on the Site Reporting App must be filled in on each visit to the plant.
· Welcome visitors and provide induction upon first visit, record this and any subsequent visits on the Site Reporting App.
· O&M Technicians must perform a walkthrough of the site, visually inspecting all areas of the plant and treatment process, and record the tasks as outlined in the Site Reporting App for each applicable plant.
· Respond to critical alarms when required to ensure water and wastewater treatment output is maintained.
· Conduct and record process adjustments as required to ensure treated water and treated wastewater outputs are to the required standard.
· A HSQE walkthrough of each water and wastewater treatment plant must be carried out on a weekly basis. O&M Technicians must complete and submit the Weekly HSQE Checklist for Operations.
· Assist with the delivery of the CRF (Capital Replacement Fund) projects when & where applicable.
· Show an eagerness to learn and progress in your own career as well as the mentoring and training of more junior staff.
· Other duties as required from time to time.
The Role:
As an O&M Technician you will be assigned ownership of certain water and wastewater treatment plants, and will be responsible to ensure the quality and quantity of any treated water produced or final effluent treated is within specification, and that each of the assigned sites, their facilities, grounds, contents and individual process’ are operated & maintained as required. All O&M Technicians will work in conjunction with each other and may be required to undertake duties and provide cover at various plants.
You will be allocated responsibility and ownership for your dedicated water or wastewater treatment plants and will ensure they are covered by other O&M Department team members while on scheduled/unscheduled leave or days off duty. Each Technician will work on a rota system, which will be managed by O&M office staff. It is a requirement to share the out of hours & public holiday cover with the contract site team. Any changes to the published rota require notice to the O&M Project Manager in advance.
The use of email/apps etc is required and is considered an essential business tool in day-to-day O&M activities. Business etiquette on all correspondence is essential.
As an Operations & Maintenance Technician, you will be expected to support the O&M project manager and engineer in the daily operation and maintenance of live operational projects as well as showing progression and development in your own career.
