The Ballinglen Arts Foundation seeks a highly experienced, demonstrably effective, self-motivated candidate with an interest in the Arts for the role of Operations Manager.
This is a key role within the organisation, working closely with and reporting to the Managing Director. The role includes the management and oversight of day-to-day operations and administration, of The Ballinglen Arts Foundation incorporating the Ballinglen Museum of Art.
This position requires excellent organisational ability, a highly personable manner and first-rate communication skills.
The successful candidate will work with, and report to the Managing Director.
Responsibilities:
Fellowship Residencies, Workshops, Masterclasses and Educational Programmes
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Ballinglen Fellowship residencies, workshops and Masterclasses Programme as well as the Ballinglen educational programmes.
Administration:
- Oversee all administration of the Foundation, including the Ballinglen Museum of Art, ensuring smooth business operations, supportive of a good working environment
- Manage the schedule for all events
- Work with and assist the Managing Director in the preparation of all funding applications
- Maintain and update records etc
HR:
- Responsibility for all staff contracts, maintaining employment records including monthly time sheets etc in liaison with the Managing Director and generally overseeing all staff.
- Organising staff training as required
Building Management and Operations:
- Oversee all aspects of building management with responsibility for all the buildings of The Ballinglen Arts Foundation (Centre, Gallery, Museum and the Cottages insuring these are operational and in a good state of repair etc
Essential Requirements :
- Minimum of three years experience in management and office administration in a small/medium-sized business or charity
- A friendly and approachable personality
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
Desirable Skills:
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team
- The ability to work to deadlines and thrive in a dynamic working environment
- A working knowledge of and passion for the Irish visual arts community
- Experience in working with non-profit or charitable organisations
Ability to be flexible as occasional events occur outside working hours including evenings and weekends.
Terms of Employment:
- This is a full-time position based at The Ballinglen Arts Foundation (39 hours per week) in Ballycastle, Co Mayo.
- Salary: commensurate with experience - with a 6-month probationary period.
- Start date: Immediate

The Ballinglen Museum of Art creates its own exhibitions and implements high-quality travelling exhibitions with other institutions. All of Ballinglen’s Programmes are designed to incorporate unforeseen education and community involvement elements as opportunities present themselves.
