Part Time Cleaner

Clarecare is a professional social enterprise with charitable status, providing a range of people centred social services to individuals and families in County Clare for over 55 years. Current services provided include Family Support, Older Person Services and Bushypark Residential Addiction Treatment Centre.   Clarcare’s headquarters are based in Ennis with local offices in Bushypark, Shannon, Kilrush, Killaloe and Ennistymon. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Cleaner – Clarecare’s Over 65’s Club, (Day Care Centre, Cuan an Chlair, Cahercalla, Ennis

Part-time Permanent Contract (17.5 hours per week)

OVERVIEW/DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

Clarecare Over 65’s Club Ennis, Operates Monday – Friday providing day care for older persons. We are looking for a professional cleaner capable of attending to our facilities with integrity and attention to detail.

JOB RELATIONS:

The Cleaner will work as part of the wider Day Care Team and will report to the Manager of The Day Care Centre.

HOURS OF WORK:

Hours of work are 17.5 hours per week on a Monday to Friday basis. Work hours and days of work are Monday – Friday 3pm – 6:30pm. Flexibility is required regarding work hours based on operational requirements.

ANNUAL LEAVE:

12 days annual leave per annum per full leave year (Jan-Dec inclusive).

JOB LOCATION:

The office base for this position will be Clarecare Over 65’s Club, Cuan an Chlair, Cahercalla, Ennis, Co. Clare. V95 P9V9

PROBATION:

Probationary period of employment is 6 months duration with two formal reviews during that period.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

  • To be accountable to the Manager of the Day Care Centre.
  • To adhere to Clarecare policies and procedures in relation to your work.
  • To maintain excellent cleaning and housekeeping standards in order to ensure infection prevention and control measures are adhered to.
  • To fulfil the administrative responsibilities of the post e.g. cleaning charts, timesheets etc
  • To maintain professional boundaries in all work with service users and staff members
  • To comply with the clinical standards of the Centre
  • To support the work of staff, volunteers, students and others involved in Clarecare.
  • To actively participate in regular supervision with your Line Manager.
  • To actively participate in meetings in the centre and with your line manager
  • To actively participate in in-house and other relevant training including mandatory training e.g. Fire safety, Manual handling, Infection Control, Chemical Handling etc.
  • To perform such other duties appropriate to the position as may be assigned to you by the Day Care Centre Manager or designate.

Key Responsibilities of this role:

  • Service and clean all rooms in the Centre, inclusive of bathrooms.
  • Maintain an orderly environment for our service users which is a critical factor in maintaining and strengthening the service users experience while attending the centre.
  • Clean corridors and public areas daily.
  • Undertake regular deep cleaning tasks when requested, using floor cleaning machine and polisher.
  • Oversee the laundry room and ensure an adequate stock of kitchen tea towels, cleaning products/cloths are available and maintained/restocked.
  • Ensure correct use of equipment in accordance with Centre standards
  • Maintain store rooms in a clean and tidy condition at all times.
  • Carry out general housekeeping duties: dusting, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, general cleaning and replenishment of towels and linen, hand soap etc.
  • Replenish cleaning items in all areas of the building and ensure stock levels are maintained
  • Highlight any items or areas that need maintenance to the Day Care Manager
  • Ensure high level of cleanliness is kept at all times
  • Ensure that the correct PPE and uniform is worn while on duty in line with Infection Control procedures.
  • Be environmentally aware and dispose of waste accordingly.
  • Maintain cleaning charts/schedules/records in line with the Day Care Centre Cleaning standards and sign off on same.
  • Attend relevant training on infection control/hygiene procedures.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Essential Education/Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Competencies:

Candidates must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the position and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

The ideal candidate:

  • Prior experience as a Cleaner in paid employment - essential.
  • Experience of maintaining high quality cleaning standards.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Capable of following instructions and learn new techniques.
  • Capable of multi-tasking in a lone working position.
  • Professional attitude to work with a friendly personality and “can do” attitude.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and work independently as well as part of a team (when required) whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work.
  • Positive and approachable manner.
  • Team player qualities.
  • Good knowledge of hygiene practices/infection prevention & control procedures etc.
  • Full clean drivers licence and access to own car. You will be required to provide insurance indemnity on your private motor insurance policy to Clarecare.
  • Excellent time keeping, organisation and communication skills with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team 9when required) in a fast-paced working environment.
  • A positive ‘fit to work’ medical.
  • A positive Garda clearance/vetting disclosure through Clarecare.
  • Two positive written references from your current and most recent employers.

  • Manager & Staff team and service users within Day Care Centre
  • Other personnel within Clarecare (where relevant).
