Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll across our operations, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements and internal policies.

The successful candidate will work closely with HR, Finance and store management to support payroll operations in a fast-paced environment.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly payroll for both ROI and Northern Ireland, ensuring accuracy and adherence to payroll deadlines
  • Maintain and update payroll records using payroll and time management systems -specifically Microsoft packages, Sage Payroll, Kronos
  • Calculate pay elements including absences, statutory payments, deductions, tips and service charge, night shifts
  • Ensure compliance with Revenue and HMRC requirements, including payroll submissions and reporting
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Support pension processing and payroll-related benefits administration
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing payroll reports and documentation
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll data and ensure compliance with GDPR requirements
  • Support continuous improvement of payroll processes and systems
  • Ensure all necessary updates are done on time, followed by checks
  • Answer staff payroll queries in a professional, timely and proficient manner
  • Ensure all payments are processed accurately according to the company schedule
  • Escalating concerns or queries to the Payroll Manager and/or Finance Director
  • Completing forms and letters for staff as needed

Essential Criteria:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a payroll capacity; processing payroll in both NI & ROI
  • Enjoys working within a busy payroll function
  • Advanced IT skills, including MS Office Packages
  • IPASS qualification or equivalent desirable
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and statutory requirements (ROI and/or NI/UK)
  • Experience using payroll systems (e.g. Sage Payroll) and time management systems
