Part-time Position:

• Morning, Afternoon and Evening Shifts
• Flexible hours
• 15 hours a week, 2 - 3 days a week, one weekend in three.

Ideal for a person living in the south County Wicklow area.

Qualification: FETAC Level 5 in Health and Social Care & Full Driving Licence

Purpose of the Job:

To enable a man living with a Spinal Cord Injury to achieve maximum independence in his daily living, by providing assistance in all areas of personal and domestic needs, and by acting as a support in the social and day-to-day activities.

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

• Personal Hygiene, including, assistance with taking a shower / bath, washing / shaving, brushing hair, assistance with catheter care, stoma care, assisted cough, physiotherapy sessions etc.
• Provide effective personal care and support in a way which maintains the privacy, dignity and safety of the person at all times.
• Housework that the Leader requires, including making / changing bed, cleaning bathroom, washing / ironing clothes, lighting solid fuel stove, cleaning kitchen, etc.
• Provide assistance in using computer and conducting research on Internet.
• Support the Leader in a safe manner when using aids where appropriate e.g. hoists.
• Preparation and cooking of meals and washing up.
• Drive and accompany the Leader on social outings, events, shopping etc.
• Accept and carry out all instructions diligently.
• Behave in areliable and trustworthy manner at all times.
• Have clean personal habits.
• Willing to attend all training sessions.
• Communicate effectively with the Leader and their relatives.
• Be reliable and dependable. Arrive at the work at the time specified and work the full amount of time allocated.
• The Personal Assistant must be willing to accept instructions and to follow the directions and requests of his Leader.

Rate of Pay - depending on experience

On going Training provided, accompaning client on day trips and short holiday breaks around Ireland
