Personal Assistants required for disabled person based in Navan, to support Independent Living, carrying out day to day domestic needs, attending appointments and social events.

No Medical or Caring Duties are Required in this Role.

In this service the disabled person is called a Leader and they lead their own staff and service

Hours: 50 (split between two PAs)

Location: Navan

Salary: Depending on Experience. Competitive rates including antisocial and Sunday rates.

Two personal assistants are required to work with a Leader in Meath

Duties

• Assistance with domestic needs (cooking, cleaning, shopping etc)
• Assisting the Leader to attend appointments
• Assisting the Leader to engage in social, political, and cultural life.

Essential Qualifications/Requirements

• An understanding of the United Nations Declaration of Rights for Disabled People and the concept of Independent Living that the Declaration contains.
• An understanding of social model of disability, and of why the Charity and Medical models are not helpful
• Must be available to attend mandatory training sessions
• Must have a proven ability to listen and to follow instruction.
• Proven ability to understand that the Leader knows what is in their own best interest and can make decisions for themselves.
• Must have a full clean driving licence and be willing to drive Leader’s car.
• Sociable and a good sense of humour, as well as an ability to work quietly and to respect the light, and sound sensitivities of the disabled individual.
• Must be flexible, open, and honest and have the ability to work on own initiative

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Ireland. Applicants for the position must provide two suitable references and employment offers are contingent on those references and on the completion of the Garda Vetting.
