PERSONAL ASSISTANTS NEEDED

Role: Personal Assistant

Location: Tramore, Waterford

Hours: 18-30 hours per week

Rate: €16.50 - €17 (depending on experience)

The ÁT Network and a family are seeking to employ a team of of professional and caring individuals to work as Personal Assistants with two disabled women who are currently living in their family home.

The personal assistants will prepare the women for attending day services and support them with meaningful evening and weekend activities in accordance with their will and preference. It is of utmost importance to ensure they continue to have choice and control over the activities they wish to undertake and the service provided.

The personal assistants will work closely with the parents and family to assist them in preparing to move out of the family home to a supported living environment in due course.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working as an individual or as part of a team providing care and support in collaboration with their parents and family.
  • Providing a personal assistance service in keeping with a person cantered plan developed for each of them taking cognisance of their individual needs and preferences.
  • Transporting them to and from their day services.
  • Transporting them to and supporting them with attending appointments, sporting activities, social outings and other events as the need arises.
  • Communicating effectively with them, their parents and their family.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Professional qualification in Social Care with minimum of FETAC Level 5 Health Care Assistant
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of working with disabled people
  • Experience working with a person with epilepsy would be an advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
  • Must be motivated, reliable, flexible and dependable
  • Take instructions and direction
  • Maintain and respect confidentiality at all times
  • Timekeeping
  • Ability to work as a team and on your own.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal)
  • Full, clean driving licence (essential) and willingness to drive an adapted car

Hours of work: minimum 18- 30 hours per week. Additional hours may be required from time to time.

Rate of pay: €16.50- €17 p/h depending on experience. Anti-social and Sunday rates apply.
