A number of permanent vacancies currently exist within Mid and East Antrim Borough Council for the following post and applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates:-
Planning Assistant (2 Posts)
Hours of Work: 37 Hours per week
Salary: Scale SO1 and in the range SCP 25-27, currently £36,363 to £38,220 per annum.
Location: Ballymena
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Provide professional and technical advice, guidance and recommendations and carry out all the functions associated with the delivery of the Council’s responsibilities and statutory functions in respect of Planning and Environment.
Provide support to the Planning Officer (or equivalent) including the assembling and presentation of information to inform any of the following:
The preparation and review of the Local Development Plan and associated planning guidance;
Decision making on planning applications;
Actions in regard to the enforcement of planning control;
The carrying out of environmental and other assessments associated with Local Development Plans and the determination of planning applications and other development proposals;
Undertaking Sustainability Appraisal (including Strategic Environmental Assessment) of Development Plans;
Undertaking Habitat Regulations Assessment on planning related matters.
The particular role assigned initially, and potentially subject to change thereafter, will be at the discretion of the Head of Planning in consideration of ongoing business needs and priorities.

The shortlisting panel will base shortlisting decisions on the information contained within the Essential Criteria narrative sections of the application form.
