Purpose of the Role

The role of the Orthopaedic Casting Technician, Childrens Orthopaedics is to support the Nursing Staff in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager / Specialist and Staff Nurses. The post holders’ primary role is to assist with plaster care and the associated duties of orthopaedic patients in the plaster room, theatre and wards and associated duties directly related to plaster care.

Nursing staff will delegate responsibility to the Casting Technician in respect of each task which will have been prescribed by the Orthopaedic consultant.

Essential Criteria:

  • British Casting Certificate or equivalent OR willingness to undertake British Casting Certificate course following 1 years’ experience in a plaster room.
  • FETAC level 5 in healthcare
