Overview of the role

The Nursing Practice Development Coordinator leads the Nursing Practice Development Unit, which supports nursing staff in developing nursing practice to facilitate high standards of patient focused nursing care. This involves leading, coordinating and evaluating nursing and interdisciplinary policies, in collaboration with colleagues across the interdisciplinary team, while ensuring the provision of a quality clinical learning environment.

In addition, the role of the Nurse Practice Development department is to coordinate the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the structures and processes required to support safe nurse prescribing which meets the requirements of NRH and is compliant with the requirements and standards of Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.

Qualifications and Knowledge/Experience/Skills

The candidate must, on the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office:

  • Be registered on the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by Nursing Midwifery Board Ireland (NMBI) or eligible to be so registered.
  • Minimum 7 years post registration nursing experience and 5-year experience/ involvement in clinical practice management, practice development, education, or quality improvement.
  • Relevant post registration qualification at level 9 (master’s degree) or Higher is essential.
  • Have completed a Teaching and Assessing course/programme/module is essential.
  • Post Registration qualification in Rehabilitation; Spinal Injury; or Neurosurgical or Neurodisability or health sciences essential.
  • Have proven clinical and professional ability, leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Display evidence of continuing professional development.

Accountable to: Director of Nursing

Liaison/Communication: All Nursing Staff including students during on duty hours

This is a permanent full-time vacancy within the Nursing Department. Salary for this post is aligned with HSE NURSING / MIDWIFERY PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT CO-ORDINATOR (2445) PayScale.
