Job Title and Grade: Radiographer, Clinical Specialist, Practice Educator and Assessment Lead, (Grade Code: 3131)
The Opportunity
The Practice Educator and Assessment Lead will oversee the education, training, mentoring, assessment and clinical placements for trainee and qualified Senior Radiographers. This role ensures that students and staff gain the knowledge, skills and competencies required for their professional development and BreastCheck's operational goals. The post holder will bring discipline specific subject matter expertise and experience and play a key role in the delivery of a high quality, patient focused radiographic service with the National Breast Screening Programme. To include:
- Ensure that BreastCheck staff meet the clinical competency compliance levels for screening mammographers as set out in the local and European standards.
- Liaising with Universities/HEI in the delivery of the postgraduate mammography course.
- Conduct clinical mammography updates and refresher training for all Radiographers and ensure the correct documentation processes are followed.
- Streamline operations in triple assessment clinics and, as such, must have a good working knowledge of working in assessment clinics. The role will ensure that staff get a thorough, timely induction into assessment procedures.
- Foster a supportive learning environment and facilitates students' transition from observation to working autonomously.
- Contribute to organising and presenting at the BreastCheck annual study day and other CPD events throughout the year. Continuous professional development of staff will be a core component of the role.
Working with the RSM’s, the Practice Educator and Assessment Lead will facilitate effective communication between staff, management and students, providing effective feedback and reporting any organisational needs or issues that may arise.
The Practice Educator and Assessment Lead will model professional behaviour, demonstrating the values and standards expected of students and staff in practice settings. This involves creating a supportive, inclusive environment that promotes learning, teamwork, and professional growth in conjunction with the senior radiographic management team.
