We are seeking an optimistic and enthusiastic Procurement Director to lead our sourcing and negotiations while bringing our 'Cost Focused' DNA to life across Ireland and Northern Ireland.

What you'll do

Management Tasks:

  • Overall responsibility for EHS & Facility Management including providing support and strategic direction to the Heads of both Departments.
  • Managing employees in accordance with the company's leadership and behavioural principles and promoting targeted, professional, and personal development of employees
  • Agreeing on goals and delegating tasks to employees, including giving them scope for action to complete tasks
  • Ensuring a positive and motivating working atmosphere as well as smooth, effective, and efficient collaboration between teams within IT
  • Conducting employee discussions (e.g., development discussions, annual reviews, goal setting discussions, etc.)
  • Responsibility for operational personnel matters (e.g., coordinating personnel requirements, recruiting, approving, and signing employment contracts, disciplinary measures)
  • Responsibility for resource, personnel and investment/cost planning and control
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable law and internal regulations (corporate principles, leadership principles, processes, and other internal regulations) when managing employees

Core Responsibilities

Procurement 

  • Organisational Influence: Actively broaden the Procurement teams remit, positioning the Department as a strategic partner that adds value to every area of the business, from Marketing to IT services.
  • Group Networking: You will act as the primary liaison with SBES (Schwarz Beschaffung), ensuring Lidl Ireland is deeply integrated into international procurement networks to leverage group best practices and economies of scale. You will ensure compliance with INT sourcing guidelines. 
  • Contract Governance: Direct the end-to-end GNFR contract lifecycle, serving as the primary authority for ensuring all procurement activities strictly adhere to ARIS-defined procedural standards.
  • Equipment Solutions: Partner with the Operations team to source and implement innovative equipment solutions (e.g., sustainable refrigeration, inventory control systems).
  • Roll-out Management: Direct the procurement and logistics for large-scale equipment roll-outs, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. (FK 2025, Self Service Tills etc ) 
  • Car Fleet Strategy: Manage Lidl Ireland’s extensive car fleet, focusing on the transition to EV/sustainable models, lease negotiations, and fleet policy development.

Facility Management

  • Leadership: Provide support and strategic direction to the Head of Facilities, ensuring our stores, RDC’s, and Head Office are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Asset Lifecycle: Develop long-term strategies for building maintenance and asset replacement to ensure a good shopping experience for our customers and efficient operations for our RDC’s. 

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)

  • Leadership: Provide support and strategic direction to the Head of EHS, ensuring a 'Safety First' culture is embedded across all 7,000+ employees.
  • Compliance: Ensure the organisation remains ahead of legislative changes in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland . Provide support and direction when dealing with Government Authorities. 

What you'll need

  • Strategic Sourcing: Ability to develop and execute a multi-year procurement strategy that aligns with Lidl Ireland’s & Northern Ireland’s growth targets and 'Cost Focused' DNA.
  • Excellen Negotiation Skills: Lead high-value tender negotiations, relentlessly driving Value for Money (VFM) and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) across all tender events.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:Ability to manage a vast portfolio of local Irish and international suppliers. You will be the face of Lidl in high-stakes negotiations
  • Self-starter and ability to work on own initiative
  • At least 6 years of professional experience
  • Organised and efficient even when multi- tasking 
  • Calm under pressure and when dealing with conflict 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills 
  • Third level degree
  • Full driver’s license 
  • Willingness to travel
