Production Manager

The Production Manager is responsible for leading a Sterile Manufacturing/Fill Finish suite and managing teams producing veterinary pharmaceutical products for global markets. Reporting to the Site Manufacturing Lead, the role ensures products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in compliance with GMP, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The Production Manager drives operational performance, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, and ensures customer orders are delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety & Compliance

• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Management systems.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement effective control measures.
• Ensure adherence to GMP, Quality Management Systems, and regulatory requirements.

Quality

• Embed a quality-focused culture 
• Investigate deviations, implement CAPAs, and support root cause analysis.
• Conduct internal audits and ensure corrective actions are completed on time.
• Oversee equipment and facility cleaning procedures to prevent contamination.

Operations

• Manage dedicated manufacturing suites and coordinate production schedules.
• Lead team to achieve production, operational, and compliance targets.
• Ensure manufacturing records are completed accurately and products meet the highest quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximise efficiency, reduce waste, and improve yields.

People Leadership

• Manage Manufacturing Supervisors and support teams across various shift patterns.
• Drive performance, identify development needs, and maintain training plans and records.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships and ensure effective communication throughout the department.

Essential Criteria:

• Degree or third level qualification in Pharmacy, Science, Engineering or Mathematics (or a closely related area) OR at least five years’ experience in a Manufacturing/Packaging environment.
• Three years’ experience in a management role including managing teams on shift rotas.
• Experience and understanding of manufacturing, regulatory, quality and validation requirements, manufacturing processes.
• Ability to motivate and train team members.
• Experience of environmental, health and safety and control of cross contamination.
• Experience of documentation associated with a Quality Management System.
• Understanding of production documentation processes.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain compliant & safe working environment, delivering high quality products in line with regulatory standards.
• Excellent organisational & communication skills with ability to successfully implement change.

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing/Packaging environment.
• Experience in oral dose manufacturing, Sterile Injectables or other Pharmaceutical dosage formats.
