Production Supervisor

Reporting to Operations Director, the Production Supervisor will lead the output of the paintshop and oversee and coordinate the movement of materials to and from paintshop and across the yard.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Direct control of Paintshop Team Members to ensure they are motivated, trained, developed and carry out their responsibilities to the required standards and in accordance with Health and Safety standards.
  • Oversee the production process (paint and shot blast), confirming a production schedule to ensure that all products are processed on time and are to the correct quality standard
  • Safety, managing safe working practices and ensuring high environmental standards within the team
  • Planning, organising, directing and controlling the activities and resources necessary to achieve daily targets
  • Quality, ensuring that production is working to required standards in a zero defects culture, following standard work
  • Delivery, controlling and managing the day to day production to achieve takt, build to schedule and on time delivery targets
  • Cost, monitoring production costs to ensure that targets are achieved on time within budget and within Quality standards
  • Ensure all required safety checks are carried out according to schedules
  • Ensure that the production resources including equipment and machinery are used effectively and that maintenance is carried out according to manufacturer's instructions
  • Develop all necessary policies and procedures to ensure that plant and equipment is effectively maintained to ensure maximum production efficiency
  • Maintain Team Member discipline and where appropriate implement company disciplinary procedure for staff who fail to meet the standard required
  • Supervise all work areas to ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained and that materials are stored correctly
  • Ensure that incoming deliveries are off loaded safely and efficiently and moved to the correct locations
  • Removing product to and from factory safely
  • Ensuring delivery drivers are safe and following the safe practices on site
  • Communicate daily priorities and changes to the team as necessary to ensure the effective running of paint and yard operations

Essential Experience

  • Ideally you should have previous production supervision experience gained within a manufacturing environment.
  • A practical understanding of lean manufacturing is also required.
  • Vast experience of leading a team to achieve faultless performance of paint spraying within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to engage and manage a high performance team
  • Outstanding communication skills, reporting and creating management information reports
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong experience in technical knowledge of industrial coatings
  • Self-motivated and a leading decision maker
  • Checking quality of all finished products that go through the paint shop
  • Knowledge of inventory control, lean manufacturing, takt time and continuous improvement
  • Ability to govern progress to a detailed level and interpret system reports to bring about change as necessary
  • IT literacy and experience of MRP style system
  • Skilled operator of power industrial trucks – FLT and side loader as examples

Accountabilities:

  • Building strong and close working relationships with all departments
  • Ensuring all Team Members have the required training and are working to full potentials
  • Attendance of daily/weekly & monthly meetings, presenting performance information
  • Adhering to health and safety procedures
  • Adhering to company operational procedures
