Production Technician, Machine Shop

The role:
  • Practise and promote good housekeeping and 5S techniques. Ensuring all team members are promoting the same techniques within their production cells. 
  • Responsible for training of all team members, help develop training needs and implement training plans as required 
  • Drive cell ownership with all team members, ensuring all information is shared and understood. 
  • Taking a lead role in communication sharing between shifts and support departments. 
  • Take the lead role in TPM, 5s, and Health and safety activities. Responsible for creating/auditing machining cell daily 5s and health and safety audits. 
  • Deputise for the Manufacturing Supervisor in their absence. Ensuring all teams members are working in the correct safe manner and following all processes and procedures within the department. 
  • Lead daily production review and morning meetings, participate in weekly production reviews along with cell engineer 
  • Ensure adherence to the 4-week production schedule 
  • Ensure all team members adhere to all processes and procedures at all times, without deviation 
  • Take the lead role in helping production operators with set-up, adjustment, trouble shooting and minor repair of equipment.

    Essential Criteria:
    • Minimum two years’ experience in a machining/manufacturing environment
    • Has demonstrated the ability to complete the principle duties on the Job Description
    • Previous experience in delivering on-the-job training
    • Competent and good knowledge of operational and quality
    • Demonstrated commitment to HSE, housekeeping and 5S principles 
    • Good communication skills, both oral and written
    • Customer focus and teamwork skills
    • Good analytical and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment
