Position Description

Facilities Management (FM) manage and maintain in excess of 90 properties in the ESB Property portfolio, to over 7000 staff. FM have responsibility for the delivery of a wide range of building related projects to ensure that the ESB Group can deliver its business in well maintained safe & sustainable workplace environments. Within FM the capital projects team is responsible for the delivery of the capital works programme across ESB through a multi-disciplinary professional team consisting of internal and external resources typically make up the delivery teams.

The role of the Capital Projects Project Manager is to work as part of the Capital Projects team in the role of designer and project manager in multidisciplinary teams delivering projects to ESB group.

The projects are typically construction projects on existing premises and vary from internal fitout with services upgrades to fabric (roof, windows, wall cladding, thermal) upgrades to whole building upgrades. A key factor in working with existing buildings is familiarity with building regulations and their applicability to existing circumstances.

The ideal candidate will have experience as an Architectural Technologist and is interested in developing their project management skills.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for delivering a series of projects of varying complexity annually as part of the overall Capital Works program in FM for a range of internal ESB customers, aligned to ESB Net Zero strategy

  • Assemble and manage appropriate design teams, from professional and construction industry framework panels, to carry out the necessary work and provide the relevant services for projects. Manage these consultants on each project in line with ESB policies ensuring timely delivery and within budget.

  • Competency to act in role as Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) on relevant projects and advise on optimum design solutions for building projects.

  • Managing stakeholder and providing timely reporting on projects progress and issues to stakeholders and Senior Capital PM Management

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the planning and building regulatory framework and legislation on projects along with ESB policies and procedures in particular managing permit to work system on all projects.

  • Inputting into a series of policies and procedures in line with ESB policies and Statutory legislation, to ensure projects are executed in a safe, cost effective, time efficient, professional and compliant manner.

  • Working collaboratively with Facility Management team and delivering projects to ensure a full complete handover to the maintenance phase of the project by other members of the Facilities team including the Hard and Soft Services manager

  • Producing sketch scheme proposals, tender information, construction information, as built information for projects including drawings, specifications, schedules and scope of works documents.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum of 3+ years relevant work experience is essential

  • Relevant 3rd Level qualification in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience is essential

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit

  • SafePass

  • Experience in the delivery of building projects related to offices, stores, depots, and protected structures.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding in relation to statutory obligations of Health and Safety legislation and its application in the workplace.

  • Ability to plan work to deadlines

  • Experience in managing both internal and external stakeholders

Desirable

  • Experience as an Architectural Technologist is highly desirable

  • Experience in construction project management

  • Experience and knowledge of permit to work systems including assessment of risk assessment and method statements with emphasis on safety

  • IOSH (Insitution of Occupational Safety and Health) Managing Safety in Construction

  • Project Management qualifications

  • A sound knowledge of legislation relating to planning, construction, health & safety, energy and conservation in buildings

  • Good interpersonal skills, commercial awareness and the ability to organise and motivate teams

  • Experience in cost management on construction projects

  • Experience in delivery of M&E (Monitoring and Evaluation) projects relating to offices, stores and vehicle garages

Location

This position will be based in ESB’s Head Office at Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin 2

Salary 

€48,000 - €56,500 (depending on experience)
