Psychologist, Principal Clinical
Candidates must have at the latest date of application:
1. Professional Qualifications, Experience etc.
(a)
(i) A recognised University degree or diploma (NQAI Level 8 equivalent) obtained with first or second class honours in which psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject.
AND
(ii) Have an Irish postgraduate professional psychology qualification recognised by the Psychological Society of Ireland.
OR
(iii) A recognised postgraduate professional psychological qualification equivalent from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.
AND
(b) Have at least eight years satisfactory postgraduate experience in the area of professional psychology in which the position is designated (Clinical, Educational or Counselling) inclusive of any time spent in pursuing a course leading to the postgraduate qualification and including at least three years satisfactory experience in a senior capacity. Please note that you must have achieved the 8 years (96 months) experience no later than the closing date of this recruitment campaign.
AND
(c) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
Note: These qualifications take affect from 25 October 2002 but without prejudice to anyone employed in a post of Staff Grade Psychologist or above on that date in the Irish Public Health Service to whom the qualification requirements for Principal Psychologist in place at 22nd January, 2002 shall apply.
Post Specific Requirements
Post 1 (Mental Health) Applicants must:
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in general and specialist areas across Psychology services, as relevant to the role.
Post 2 (Primary Care) Applicants must:
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of achievement in the development of high-quality, integrated, accountable and efficient Child Psychology services as relevant to the role.
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in the provision of assessment, formulation, intervention, evaluation, reporting and supervision with a broad range of clinical problems in terms of complexity and severity seen within the care group area of Child Psychology as relevant to the role.
