Purchasing & Customs Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Manage material orders to support our medical device manufacturing operations, ensuring production teams have the materials they need to meet customer requirements.
  • Take ownership of purchase orders from creation through to completion, maintaining accurate and up-to-date purchasing information.
  • Coordinate import and export activities, working with freight forwarders and customs contacts to keep materials moving efficiently across our supply chain.
  • Review customs documentation and resolve queries, ensuring shipments meet relevant customs and compliance requirements
  • Build strong working relationships with suppliers and collaborate with colleagues across Supply Chain, Manufacturing and other functions across the site.
  • Monitor supplier performance and supply chain KPIs, using data to identify trends and opportunities to improve performance.
  • Manage inventory requirements and identify opportunities to optimise stock levels, reduce excess inventory and support efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Contribute to cost improvement initiatives across purchased materials while maintaining quality and supply requirements.
  • Bring ideas and a continuous improvement mindset to purchasing and supply chain processes, supporting the development of more effective ways of working.
  • Contribute to our wider commitment to safe and responsible manufacturing through the continual improvement of the site’s OH&S, Environmental and Energy Management systems
Qualifications
  • Experience within purchasing, supply chain, customs, logistics or a related environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with suppliers and colleagues across different functions.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Experience implementing or supporting new policies, procedures or process improvements.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 and FDA QMSR requirements would be an advantage.
  • Experience working with customs data or knowledge of customs legislation is desirable but not essential.
  • A third-level qualification in Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline is desirable but not essential.See JD for details.
