The Microbiologist will be involved in routine microbiological testing of raw material, in process and finished product samples and in assisting in the review of water systems on all Norbrook Laboratories Ltd sites in Newry.
Main Activities/Tasks
- Performance of Sterility, Bioburden, Microbiological Plate Assays and Endotoxin testing also Sub-visible particulate and Particle size determinations.
- Checking of raw data and signing off test records.
- Analysing test results and taking appropriate action.
- Identification of Microbiological isolates when required.
- Filter integrity testing.
- Assist the Senior Microbiologist to ensure all staff are following the correct Methods of Analysis.
- Assist the Senior Microbiologist to monitor the level of stock and consumables so that there are adequate resources available to perform the required testing.
- Assist in keeping the laboratories in an audit ready state and maintaining a safe working environment including the wearing of the correct Personal Protective Equipment
- Liaising with other departments to obtain relevant information.
- Training new and existing members of Microbiology department where required, ensuring training records and training matrix are kept up to date.
- Collection and logging of samples from Suites across several locations.
- The Successful candidate will be given on the job training as well as being trained in the principles of Good Manufacturing practice.
- Applicants must therefore demonstrate the following essential criteria on their application form in order to be considered:
- Educated to Degree level in Microbiology or related discipline AND have at least 1 years' experience working in a similar industrial microbiology laboratory environment. However, applicants with lower qualifications and relevant experience will be considered.
- Be able to demonstrate good organisational and communication skills, as demonstrated on their application form and at interview.
- Have the ability to analyse results, be highly motivated, flexible regarding their work and willing to work shift patterns, weekends or holidays when necessary.
Location: Newry
Additional Information:
- This role will be based in a site that produces and handles penicillin, and as such, this role would not be suitable for those that have a penicillin allergy.
