Overview of the Role
The QA software test lead within the NRH plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and reliable medical and enterprise software and systems. They are responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive test plans, creating well-structured test cases, and overseeing the execution of tests to identify and resolve defects.
As a leader, the QA test lead manages and mentors a small team of software testers, fostering a collaborative and supportive testing culture. They communicate test results, risks, and mitigation strategies to project managers and stakeholders, influencing quality priorities across the organization.
The QA test lead applies domain-specific knowledge to address industry-specific testing challenges. They stay up to date with the latest testing methodologies and tools, continuously learning and adapting to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
By fulfilling these responsibilities, the QA software test lead plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, compliant, and reliable medical and enterprise software and systems that meet the needs of patients, the hospital, and regulatory bodies in Ireland.
ACCOUNTABLILITY, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General Accountability
- To be familiar with, and to observe/ comply with NRH policies and procedures.
- To ensure that the highest possible standards of ethical performance and professional competence are always maintained.
- Keeping up to date with all relevant mandatory training by attending all training sessions relevant to the position.
- To identify and report actual and potential hazards to the appropriate authority.
- To ensure that safe work environment and safe work practices are observed with Health and Safety requirements and best practice.
- Ensure that all staff within the Department adhere to Hospital Infection Control Polices.
- To protect the well-being of patients, staff and visitors; to identify and manage any hazards by changing work practices or removing faulty equipment from use and ensuring that it is repaired or replaced; to ensure that all equipment of the department is appropriately maintained and serviced
- Responsible for the day-to-day security of the work area to which assigned, with particular awareness of fire regulations and security arrangements.
Specific Accountability
Ensuring Compliance with Regulations:
· Verifying that the healthcare software and systems adhere to industry regulations such as GDPR
· Collaborating with stakeholders to understand and incorporate regulatory requirements into the testing process.
Comprehensive Testing:
· Designing and executing comprehensive test plans to validate the functionality, performance, and usability of healthcare software.
· Creating well-structured test cases that cover a wide range of scenarios, including edge cases and error handling.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve testing challenges
Defect Identification and Resolution:
· Thoroughly analysing test results to identify and document software defects.
· Collaborating with the vendors, project manager, ehealth lead and development teams to prioritize and resolve the identified issues.
· Verifying the effectiveness of the implemented fixes through retesting.
Efficiency:
· Continuously exploring and implementing new testing tools and techniques to enhance the testing process.
Collaboration and Communication:
· Working closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, project managers, and team members.
· Effectively communicating test results, risks, and mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
· Providing feedback and recommendations to improve the overall software development and testing processes.
Knowledge and Expertise:
· Staying up to date with the latest trends, best practices, and industry standards in healthcare software and software testing.
· Applying domain-specific knowledge to address unique testing challenges in the healthcare environment.
