Quality Control Manager

The role:
  • Responsible for internal quality, quality technicians, rework, containment and audit department
  • Manage activities of the QA Lab including supervision, development and training of Lab Technicians
  • Maintain and control Measurement, Inspection and Test Equipment
  • Daily auditing and review of production process (e.g. pallet tear down / LPA’s etc.)
  • Support continuous improvement activities
  • Responsible for actively participating in daily production meetings
  • Implement appropriate structure to manage departmental budgets effectively and within assigned budget
  • Support new product launches and participate in APQP activity
  • Support and attend weekly scorecard meetings
  • Dimensional and material approval on new dies
  • Travel to customers and suppliers when required

    Essential Criteria:
    • Third level qualification in an engineering/ technical discipline 
    • Candidates with a lesser qualification, plus significant relevant experience will also be considered
    • Min. 5 years’ experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment 
    • Working knowledge of quality management systems, including TS16949 and ISO 9000
    • Working knowledge of PFMEA, control plans and measurement system analysis
    • Experience of statistical process control
    • Proven track record in the application of problem solving techniques, e.g. 5 Why, 8D, Six Sigma
    • IT literate, and proficient in the use of MS Excel
    • Experience of interpretation of engineering drawings
    • Analytical and problem solving skills
    • Communication skills, both oral and written
    • Presentation and negotiation skills
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy
    • Ability to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment
    • Ability to see activities through to completion

    Desirable Criteria:
    • Experience in machining or the automotive supply industry
    • Previous supervisory experience
    • Experience in a customer-facing role
    • Experience of PC DMIS and SPC Lighthouse with ability to write and adjust programs
    • Proficient in the use of MS Access
