Quality Control Manager

The role:

Responsible for internal quality, quality technicians, rework, containment and audit department

Manage activities of the QA Lab including supervision, development and training of Lab Technicians

Maintain and control Measurement, Inspection and Test Equipment

Daily auditing and review of production process (e.g. pallet tear down / LPA’s etc.)

Support continuous improvement activities

Responsible for actively participating in daily production meetings

Implement appropriate structure to manage departmental budgets effectively and within assigned budget

Support new product launches and participate in APQP activity

Support and attend weekly scorecard meetings

Dimensional and material approval on new dies

Travel to customers and suppliers when required

Essential Criteria:

• Third level qualification in an engineering/ technical discipline 
• Candidates with a lesser qualification, plus significant relevant experience will also be considered
• Min. 5 years’ experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment 
• Working knowledge of quality management systems, including TS16949 and ISO 9000
• Working knowledge of PFMEA, control plans and measurement system analysis
• Experience of statistical process control
• Proven track record in the application of problem solving techniques, e.g. 5 Why, 8D, Six Sigma
• IT literate, and proficient in the use of MS Excel
• Experience of interpretation of engineering drawings
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Communication skills, both oral and written
• Presentation and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy
• Ability to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment
• Ability to see activities through to completion

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience in machining or the automotive supply industry
• Previous supervisory experience
• Experience in a customer-facing role
• Experience of PC DMIS and SPC Lighthouse with ability to write and adjust programs
• Proficient in the use of MS Access
