Receptionist

Hostelling International Northern Ireland (HINI) are seeking to employ a ‘FullTime Receptionist’, in our Belfast site. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in an organisation that provides experiences and opportunities through hostelling activities. HINI is a not-forprofit organisation providing youth hostel accommodation in Northern Ireland. It is a member of the Hostelling International federation. It is one of the founder members of Hostelling International, the largest youth organisation in the world, with 4,000 youth hostels in 90 countries, and providing high standard accommodation to suit world travellers. We operate three budget youth hostels across Northern Ireland in Belfast, Bushmills and White Park Bay. Membership of HINI is your passport to all youth hostels within this network and entitles you to thousands of benefits and discounted overnight stays. Our hostels comply with Hostelling International’s brand standards, assuring travellers get clean, safe, comfortable, and affordable accommodation with a friendly welcome. As an organisation, HINI aims to give people of all ages from all over the world, especially those of limited means, the opportunity to experience, appreciate and gain a wider understanding of Northern Ireland, by providing affordable accommodation for them on their travels.

The Key tasks of this role will include:

• Responding to hostel guests and perspective customers in person by telephone, email, and online activity.

• Welcoming guests and checking their details against their bookings, taking messages, and delivering them.

• Allocating guests rooms and provision of keys.

• Operation of HINI’s computerised booking system, working with bookings.com and hostelworld.com.

• Completing administrative tasks including recording post/mail, filing and photocopying, maintaining administrative records including health and safety reports.

• Responding to requests for help and information from customers.

• Preparing room bills and ensuring prompt payments for customers.

• Checking guests out, taking payments and returning deposits to customers.

• Working directly with the Fire Marshall on site, including all tasks associated with Health & Safety.

• Comply with all HINI policies, procedures, and guidelines.

• Perform any other reasonable duties and tasks assigned by management.

Requirements:

• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.

• Highly responsible & reliable.

• Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.

• Prior experience preferable but not essential.
