The Opportunity – Registered Advanced Nurse Practioners
Vhi Health & Wellbeing currently provides urgent care services in our three existing Swiftcare facilities in Balally, Swords and Cork, seeing over 70,000 patients annually. In addition, we provide medical and live-well screening services to 30,000 Vhi customers and a consultant led hospital at home service seeing over 1,000 patients annually, and Occupational Health and Midwife at Home services to Corporate clients. Our new model of care is based on the principles of integrative medicine, where the patient and practitioner are partners in the healing process. As part of this model, along with the concept of treatment, the broader concepts of health promotion and the prevention of illness are paramount and all factors that influence health, wellness, and disease are taken into consideration, including the mind, body and spirit.
To support this new model of care and to explore the role of the RANP within this model there is an opportunity for RANP to join our team in a Locum/Bank capacity within our Urgent Care centres in Dublin (Balally and Swords) and Cork.
The RANP will play a central role in providing nurse-led care in minor injuries and illness, in an evidence-based environment focused on quality and safety of care delivery. The RANP practices to a higher level of capability across six domains of competence as defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements (NMBI 2017). The RANP will adopt a professional leadership role within the clinical governance structures influencing both clinical and non-clinical processes that impact upon the experience and/or outcomes for patients within the RANP nursing service.The RANP is professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing and Clinically accountable to the Clinical Lead with responsibility for Urgent Care.
Must be passionate about delivering superior care in a holistic manner, dynamic and caring by nature, and motivated by the opportunity to deliver healthcare in a model of care that will be distinctive in Ireland.
Must hold registration with the Advanced Nurse Practitioner division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Register.
Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an acute care setting such as an emergency department or urgent care unit.
Possess a postgraduate qualification in emergency nursing (QQI Level 8 or equivalent
Have a broad base of clinical experience relevant to the advanced field of practice in the management of patients with non-life-threatening injury and illness.
Have demonstrated competence in managing a caseload of patients with non-life-threatening injury or illness.
Possess an interest in Integrative Medicine.
Flexibility to work across a 7 day roster.
Demonstrates alignment with Vhi Group values.
Possesses the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, professional and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
