Are you a social care, nursing , QQI 5 Healthcare student or someone who has previously worked in the social or healthcare sector looking to get back to the workplace.

Perhaps you have thought about career in social care and are willing to undertake further studies and want some flexibility with your work.

The Muiriosa Foundation are currently recruiting for Relief Social Care Worker, Relief Support Worker and Relief Staff Nurse positions in their Westmeath Residential Services. We have many residential services throughout Westmeath in locations such as Mullingar, Multyfarnham, Kinnegad, Castlepollard and surrounding areas.

We are seeking to recruit motivated, enthusiastic, creative and energetic Social Care Workers/Support Workers/Staff Nurses to support individuals with an intellectual disability to realise their vision for a ‘good life’.

The focus of the role will be to lead initiatives in supporting the individuals to live a life of their choosing and what matters most to them. The role will involve supporting individuals to become connected and valued within their local community, to provide opportunities for new experiences and to assist each person in developing real and authentic relationships. The ideal candidates will have a proven track record in supporting individuals to develop valued social roles and have experience in supporting individuals with communication needs and those who may display behaviours of concern and will have experience of person-centred planning and knowledge of person directed and individualised support approaches.

If you are a Social Care Worker/Support Worker/Staff Nurse with the ability to connect to people and have a passion for supporting people to live typical meaningful lifestyles, then this may be an ideal opportunity for you.

Requirements:

· Relevant recognised Diploma in Social Care / Applied Social Studies in Social Care/Disability/social Care Practice (Level 7 on National Framework of Qualifications) which are CORU approved. Please note Social Care candidates must be registered with or in the process of registering with CORU. Nursing Qualification (RNID/General/Mental Health – NMBI registered). Or HSE recognised Fetac/QQI Level 5 Major award or willinghness to complete.

· A valid driving licence to drive a manual vehicle in Ireland.

· Experience of supporting adults with intellectual disabilities/autism.

· Knowledge of HIQA Standards.

· Good connections in the local community an advantage.

· Ability to use own initiative and plan effectively.

· Minimum basic level IT Skills, using email, word doc and systems.

· Suitability as outlined in the introduction to the role

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to be available for any of day, weekend, waking night duty and ‘sleep-over / over-night’ shifts in our residential services. In addition, we require staff members to be willing to work alone in the residents’ homes and to be flexible to work across all locations and move as priorities change.
