The NCRI National Cancer Registry Ireland (NCRI) is undertaking a competition to identify suitable candidates for appointment to the position of:

Role Title: Research Data Specialist (Permanent Role)

Grade: Clerical Grade VI

Location: Head Office, Airport Business Park, Cork.

Blended Working: Minimum 2 day a week in Head Office Cork and the remainder of the week spent working from home or as business need dictate.

Salary Scale: €57,898, €59,278, €60,9630, €64,126, €66,017, €68,372, €70,734.

Please note that all new entrants to the public service will start at point 1 of the Salary Scale.

Role Purpose:

The purpose of the Research Data Specialist role is to create analysis-ready datasets for use by collaborators and researchers and manage the NCRI Secure Data Environment (SDE). They will be responsible for facilitating data access for external researchers, interns and collaborators, as well as reviewing and signing off outputs for download.

They will ensure the quality and validity of the NCRI data. They will design, implement, and perform routine automated and manual data quality checks, as well as data cleaning, defining and derivation of variables and data imputation. This position plays a critical role in advancing cancer research, surveillance efforts, informing national cancer strategies, and improving cancer care and outcomes for the population.

The role-holder will deliver to the NCRI’s Strategic Objectives, particularly our aims to:

• Be the independent, expert, and trusted source of cancer data and trends.

• Enhance research capabilities and develop vibrant and collaborative research networks in Ireland and Internationally
