About the Role:
Reporting to the Executive Producer, we are looking for a Researcher to join the Six O’Clock team.. Researchers are expected to deliver high quality items for the show’s output, working closely with producers and presenters. They must be passionate about TV, full of ideas, show great initiative, exercise sound editorial judgement and have a clear understanding of what makes great television.
Specific Duties & Tasks:
Sourcing guests for the show and reacting to breaking news
Interviewing and compiling notes prior to guests live appearances
Writing scripts for presenters based on the notes compiled on guests
Editing VTs and other broadcast footage
Producing shoots on location and ensuring effective Live OBs
Sourcing and clearing footage and images for the show
Organising regular guests; ensuring they are in the diary and know in advance what is expected of them for their slot
Updating the Six O’Clock Show Social Media pages such as Facebook and Twitter
Liaising with producers and presenters on show development
Originating New Series Ideas
Responsible for live audience interaction when required
Skills & Expertise:
Two years television production experience is desirable
Strong background in journalism
Strong contacts book
Great ideas and enthusiasm
Excellent planning and organisation skills
The ability to write concise background briefs for presenters
Strong interest in current affairs and Irish life
Excellent computer skills including the ability to edit VT content
Strong Social Media skills
An understanding of what makes good television
The ability to work under pressure as part of a busy team
