Restaurant Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a part-time Restaurant Assistant to join our award-winning Fern House Restaurant in Kilmacanogue. This role offers 8–16 hours per week and is ideal for someone looking for flexible part-time hours, including weekday and weekend availability, in a busy and rewarding hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a high standard of customer service, ensuring every guest enjoys a warm and welcoming dining experience.
• Assist customers throughout their visit while maintaining Avoca's hospitality standards.
• Prepare, clear and reset tables efficiently.
• Support queue management during busy service periods.
• Restock and replenish food, beverages and service stations as required.
• Operate tills, process customer payments and handle transactions accurately.
• Demonstrate good food product knowledge and confidently assist customers with menu queries.
• Follow HACCP and Health & Safety procedures, ensuring all food safety standards are maintained.
• Complete opening and closing duties as directed by the Restaurant Management team.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth daily operations.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience in a busy restaurant, café or hospitality environment is desirable.
• Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Well organised with strong attention to detail.
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
• Reliable with excellent timekeeping.
• Positive, flexible and enjoys working as part of a team.
• Food product knowledge is advantageous.
