Retail Sales & Merchandising Assistant – Part Time

Contract: 24 hours per week (3 days, including weekend work)

Army Surplus Warehouse is one of Ireland’s go-to retailers for tools, hardware, workwear, outdoor gear and homeware. We are now seeking a part-time Retail Sales & Merchandising Assistant to join our team in our Carlow store.

 About the Role

This is a hands-on retail role on the shop floor. You’ll be helping customers, merchandising products, keeping the store looking sharp and supporting the day-to-day running of the shop.

We’re open to different backgrounds — this role would suit either:

• Someone with good retail or trade experience who enjoys dealing with customers, or
• Someone earlier in their career who is confident with tills, computers and basic tech, and keen to learn.

 Key Responsibilities

• Assisting customers and providing friendly, knowledgeable service
• Operating the till and point-of-sale system
• Helping with pricing, signage and in-store merchandising
• Replenishing shelves and maintaining stock presentation on the shop floor
• Keeping the store clean, safe and well organised
• Carrying out manual handling tasks such as lifting, moving and setting out stock

 Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience in retail, trade counter or customer-facing roles is an advantage
• Comfortable using a till and basic computer systems
• Interested in tools, hardware, DIY, workwear or outdoor products
• Reliable, physically fit and happy to be on your feet and lifting stock
• Available to work weekends as part of a 3-day weekly rota
• A strong team player with good communication and customer service skills
